The advantages of dressing up Goth

We have all heard the other way round from this story, of how being Goth can cause you to be the loner, how it’s hard to get accepted in social groups but that is just one side of the coin. Well, the problems don’t magically disappear but it would be unfair if we also do not acknowledge that there is another side to this as well. Here are some of the things we think are advantageous for a Goth person.

• People don’t bother you

If you are an introvert and your idea of casual fun is a book, you are in luck because of your Goth attires. In fact, people who wear black all over also tend to get the same reaction.

• You actually are admired by a lot for a sense of I-don’t-care

This is something I have heard constantly from the people who see Goths on a regular basis. One thing seems to be in common- grudging respect. We have seen people usually talk about how they admired people who dressed Goth because that really meant that they were courageous.

• You are always and will be seen as a person of immense interest, a.k.a, there is a story behind this

That is a great conversation starter. How did you turn Goth? What do these tattoos depict? What era is that? these are always fun to discuss with new people. (bonus point: if they aren’t Goth but still read up on it).

• You’re always full of surprises

Can you play drums? Sing? Dance? Blog? These usually are regarded quite highly by people when they come to know of it. Somehow, it always registers in people’s heads as something unique. (Although yeah! you run the risk of being that Goth chick/dude that plays the drum. “I have a name, duh!” but again, as we pointed out. there are upsides and downsides to it).

• Heels clicking on the floor to assert your dominance

Can’t stop loving this trick. The stride and confidence that Goth heels or boots give you are quite real. When those click on the floor, you are a force to reckon with. Most people immediately recognize the click. If not anything, you will feel powerful listening to them.

• You can hold the attention of the room

A huge problem if you don’t want to be the center of attention but a blessing in disguise if you do (eyeing all Leos and Libras in the room). So yes, you’ll get people’s attention. In fact, even in the room, you’re doing a presentation, it is highly likely that you will get people’s attention.

I guess it was nice to recall some of the things that benefit us from being a Goth. Btw, a recent example is people dressing up as the plague doctors in the wake of the recent pandemic and if that isn’t a Goth mood, we don’t know what is.
